Here is the Silent Auction gift basket the POC Community Service Club donated to this weekend’s POC Flounder Smackdown at Josie’s Mexican Food & Cantina. The Silent Auction proceeds will be going to the Port O’Connor Volunteer Fire Department and Texas Chrome Heroes. Stop by Josie’s Cantina on Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 10:00am-1:40pm to bid on all Silent Auction items.

So sorry, but whoever left these mattresses at the POC Community Center Pavilion will need to come and retrieve them. The Service Club cannot accept mattresses because it is against the law for us to sell them!! We have posted on the front door of our Donation Center that we do not accept mattresses!! In addition, the POC Community Center Pavilion is Calhoun County property and they do not allow dumping anything!! Our Donation Center is located in back of the Pavilion!! If anyone in POC needs these mattresses, please feel free to come and get them, but the Service Club cannot accept and they need to be moved ASAP!!!

The POC Service Club’s Annual “Senior Citizens’ Luncheon” at the POC Community Center was a huge success yesterday, and we thank all the wonderful folks who showed up to enjoy the delicious meal & beverages, wonderful Christmas decorations and music, and visiting with old and new Friends!! We thank Pastor Ernie McDonough for saying the blessing before meal, and for Calhoun County Judge Vern Lyssy and Commissioner Gary Reese for joining us!! The Club delivered meals to POC residents who are homebound and could not make it to the Festivities, so that they could partake in some of the fun!!

The Service Club would like to congratulate Nancy Ladshaw for winning our “2025 Community Champion Award!! Nancy is a tireless volunteer, and Treasurer, for the Service Club, and actively participates in all things POC- the POC Garden Club, Book Club, Friends of the POC Library, as well as the weekly “Coffee & Conversation”, Mahjong, & Bridge activities at the Library!! Congratulations, Nancy!!! We appreciate you so very much!!

After the meal, guests were treated to a drawing of the table decorations, and 36 lucky attendees went home with their prizes of festively decorated reindeer to display in their homes!! It was a fun and wonderful celebration, and we thank all who attended!! The Service Club wishes all a Merry Christmas, and Blessings for a Safe, Healthy, and Happy New Year 2026!!
