Bryce Sandy represented Calhoun 4-H at the Texas 4-H Water Ambassador 4-H2O Leadership Academy Tour. He traveled through Texas to learn how water is collected, conveyed, treated, conserved, and managed to meet the need of our economy and citizenry.
Through this tour, Bryce had the opportunity to visit Meadows Center in San Marcos where he had the opportunity to do a Glass Bottom Boat Tour and then met with the San Marcos River Foundation. Day 3 they traveled to Austin where they toured the Texas Capitol and met with Surface and Groundwater Law, Texas Water Development Board, and Texas GLO. They then met with Prairielands Groundwater Conservation District. Day 4 they traveled to Springtown, where they met with Upper Trinity Groundwater Conservation District and a water well drilling operation, then with the North Texas Municipal Water District. Day 5 took them to Combine, Texas where they toured the John Bunker Sand Wetland Center and collected water for testing, as well as collected and identified macroinvertebrates.
Upon completing this academy, Bryce will now represent Calhoun 4-H as a Texas 4-H Water Ambassador. We are so proud of Bryce and cannot wait to see his accomplishments through this ambassador program!
