Ruff Riders 50th Year Run Labor Day weekend, we will make “One Last Ditch Effort” to run the 50th year of Ruff Riders.

Early to mid 90’s Daniel and I took a Nacra 5.0 with a Nacra 5.8 rig and a 9’ rack off the starboard side. The boat was extremely fast….. when it was upright. We learned the physics of buoyancy. The boat pivoted on the windward hull, not the leeward. We pitchpoled the boat 7-8 times that weekend. If it wasn’t my good 5.8 rig, I would have left the whole thing on the flats.

Labor Day weekend (August 30 & September 1) will run the 50th Year of Ruff Riders; 110nm up the ditch from Port Isabel to Corpus Christi.

If you have done the race, leave your best, and/or worst stories.

A 2-day flat water run up the ditch (Texas Intercoastal Waterway) from Port Isabel to Corpus Christi. Crews will camp at "Hobie Hilton" about midway and responsible for their own gear.
