OT works together with civic and service organizations to develop ways to meet the many needs of the citizens of our community. OT works with faith-based organizations by attending minister association meetings, planning collaborative services and outreaches, sitting on boards and committees and sponsoring conferences and seminars. OT also maintains and updates a databases of churches and minsters
. OT endeavors to work with organizations and as a committee/board member to represent the faith-based community and perspective. OT is also a support to, and seeks to build relationships with, community and civic leaders. It is a liaison for communication and information between churches and other organizations. OT offers a faith-based mentoring program in nine counties with the Prisoner Reentry program, servicing state parolees from Macomb and Saginaw Regional Correctional Facilities. OT looks for ways to physically benefit the community. OT oversees the Spiritual Life Ministry at the St. Clair County Intervention Center and Saturday Services at the Juvenile Treatment Center. OT provides volunteer chaplaincy services (as requested) to the City of Port Huron Police Department, Port Huron Hospital, Mercy Hospital and local schools. OT is also available to provide spiritual services to businesses in a variety of settings. OT sponsors COMPASS Christian Business Alliance, a group geared to support and equip Christian business leaders for success. COMPASS meets monthly to instill Christian values, provide practical wisdom and resources, provide mentoring and serve as an outreach to the greater business community. OT developed a program to ensure that faith-based, non-profits organizations operate at the highest standards by reviewing their legal, financial and procedural aspects. Recommendations are made by professionals in each area so an organization can be certified that they are following sounds business principles. A Self-Review Checklist is also available for current 501 (c) (3) organizations to utilize. OT focuses and collaborates on programing geared to children and youth to teach character, strong morals, spiritual principles, and academics, along with providing encouragement and hope. This is done through sports events, seminars, assemblies, special outreaches and fun events.
