Our Story

Literacy and Beyond is an educational nonprofit organization focused on helping at-risk children and their families. Our programs focus on the education of women and their children by providing high-quality, supportive educational programs. We help adults achieve their GED and prepare for college and careers, and we work with their 0-3 year-old-children to develop the skills they need to be ready for school. We also give thousands of books away each year to help children grow their home libraries with our Books 4 Kids program.

At Literacy and Beyond, we believe that improving a person’s education will improve their quality of life. We also know that the best place to learn is in a supportive environment that encourages healthy relationships between educators, students, and staff. We work hard to create a safe and relaxed atmosphere at our 2GEN Learning Center where women will feel empowered to make positive choices about their education and challenged to do the hard work necessary to reach their goals.
