Today the club heard from Karynn Carrell, Director of Philanthropy for the McLaren Port Huron Foundation. In her role she oversees the local fundraising efforts and fund disbursement for the hospital’s Foundation.
The Foundation will celebrate 37 years of hosting ✨Festival of Trees✨ this year, showcasing 50 trees at the Blue Water Convention Center and the lobby of McLaren Port Huron.
Events of the 37th Annual Festival of Trees include:
Festival of Trees Black-Tie Gala – Fri., Dec. 5, 6 to 11 p.m. 🌲
Community Viewing of the Designer Tees – Sat. Dec. 6, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A free Community Viewing of the Designer Trees will be offered on Saturday at the Blue Water Convention Center. The Bear Hospital will be open! 🧸
This year, Festival of Trees will raise funds to support a new K-9 Security Unit, enhancing the safety of employees, patients and visitors across the campus of McLaren Port Huron.

Today, Port Huron Rotary heard from Carolyn Crowe, representing “Love on a Leash” therapy dogs and Leader Dog.
Carolyn has trained over 30 dogs for these types of service. Her main work is done in our community’s local hospitals with her dog Tommy (pictured). We are very fortunate to have a thriving community of dedicated service dogs (and their caring humans) in our region. Thank you for sharing your updates with Rotary! 🐶

Thank you to James Freed and the City of Port Huron Government for allowing our membership to meet at the newly refurnished Elger G. Harvey Re-Investment Center.
Also, many thanks to our visitors/presenters and Rotary leadership Jeffrey Ferweda (District 6330 Governor) and Diane Ives (District 6330 Assistant Governor).
Jeffrey spoke about his Rotary experience and some goals from Rotary International. He also spoke about membership and the importance of clubs adjusting to the times. Jeffrey is from the Genesee Valley club near Flint.

Thank you City of Port Huron Manager James Freed for presenting to our club today. Mr. Freed shared updates about the tainter gate canal progress, Blue Water Bridge plaza construction, new affordable housing developments and the move for administrative offices in the south side community center. We appreciate your civic leadership!

This week, we welcome City of Port Huron Manager James Freed to our meeting. Mr. Freed will share the latest updates and speak about current projects underway in our community.
Hot tip: He recently attended the Ryder Cup golf tournament. So you can also ask him about all of action on the fairway while he was cheering on Team USA.

PH Rotarians continued their partnership with the Community Foundation of St. Clair County as the final five artists presented their fascinating samples of work for future addition to the Blue Water River Walk. The committee was blown away by the vision each of these artists presented. Next step: the Community Foundatuon will announce the final selected artwork!
