The Daughters of the American Revolution is a lineage society whose members share a love of country and a rich heritage. We are each a lineal descendant of a patriot who gave aid or was a soldier in the American Revolutionary War that paved the way for the freedoms we enjoy today. mbers. The name Ottawawa was chosen for many reasons, one being to honor the spirit of the Native Americans who originally lived in this area. In their language, Ottawawa means “Huron Waters.” Their fifty-five years in existence, the Ottawawa Chapter did many things to further the work of the DAR. The Ottawa Chapter as we know if today became the successor to Ottawawa on June 9, 1977, with fifteen organizing members. The Ottawa Chapter meets every month in Port Huron, Michigan. We are dedicated to preserving American history, securing America's future through better education, and promoting patriotism, all while having fun!
