Do you volunteer at Mid City or a local food pantry? Come get your basic food handling certificate! When we know you have a basic knowledge of food safety we can let you help a little more with storing and sorting food.

Thank you to our friends at Food Bank of Eastern Michigan for facilitating this class!

As we launch our nutrition education, we've been asked who can come to these classes...and the answer is YOU!

If you read a description of a class or a workshop and it sounds like something you need, you are welcome to join. We aren't going to ask about income or why you're there, we just want to help you learn!

While we intend to hold some fun cooking related fundraiser events eventually, all basic education classes are FREE. And we have a few more to announce yet for June!

Another upcoming class!

If you have issues with grip strength or tremor, it makes the very act of eating difficult. Weighted cutlery helps some people have better control while they eat, but can be pricey. Come try out a spoon and fork in a friendly environment, and if they work well for you you can keep the set!

We have started offering this cutlery to guests who may need it in our dining room, and the guest who has tried it out found it helps. You may too!

Make sure to call and register as we are limited in the number of sets we have. 810-982-9535

A huge Thank You to Steve and Michelle from Country Style Market for always being a friend to the soup kitchen!

As they end this chapter and start a new one, they made one last amazing gift by donating the remaining stock to local shelters and Mid City.

Best wishes!

Attention early risers! Starting June 15th we will be offering breakfast on weekday mornings from 7:30 - 8:30!

We are committed to serving through the end of June, and if enough people take advantage we will plan for longer. This is one of those situations where you don't really know until you try!

As with all of our meals, what we serve will depend on what we have, but some generous folks have already gifted us some great standard supplies like pancake mix and syrup, and we've been saving frozen and nonperishable breakfast items for a bit. We usually have coffee, fruit, and assorted breakfast sweets around.

We hope this early meal may make us an option for some of the folks who are working at our other meal times, and for families who count on school breakfasts!
