AngelStrong Fund honors our late brother by helping disadvantaged youth access sports. He leaves behind four wonderful boys. God bless!

We provide support for registration fees so every child has the chance to play, grow, and belong. On April 8, 2017 Our brother Angel Ortiz was tragically killed in the city of Oxnard. Angel Ortiz, coached baseball and basketball in the City of Port Hueneme and Oxnard. Angel loved sports, and he valued youth sports. He had a passion to help kids, so much so along with the mother of his children they adopted their nephew and would coach his other nephews. He believed in the positive influence for organized sports and so does our family. Because of the resent passing of our brother, we would like to keep his spirit alive by organizing fundraisers to help fund needy families sport tuition in the community of Port Hueneme and Oxnard. We hope you see the value in supporting our cause!

Just a little boy with big dreams and an even bigger smile.

I came across this old Little League picture of my brother, Coach Angel, around 9 years old. Looking at this photo reminds me that before life became complicated, he was simply a kid who loved to play ball, laugh, and enjoy the simple moments.

No matter how many years pass, I still wonder what he would be doing with his sons, what memories we would have made, and how different life might look if he were still here.

Today I choose to remember this little boy the one full of innocence, hope, and endless possibilities. Your life mattered, your memory lives on, and you will forever be loved.

We carry you with us every day.

Forever our Angel. 💙

⚾️💙 The AngelStrong Scholarship Fund was honored to give back again this season. In memory of our beloved Coach Angel Ortiz, we were able to bless two players with scholarships that covered their full registration for the season at Port Hueneme Little League

This year made it even more special as Reel Guppy Outdoors also stepped in and provided an additional scholarship in Angel’s honor.

We’re so grateful to the league for allowing us to support these young athletes and continue keeping Angel’s name and legacy alive through the game he loved. 🙏⚾️

The past few months, my brother’s murder has come up in conversations, and it’s stirred some feelings I’ve carried for a long time. In both conversations, the assumption was made that my brother must have been gang-related, and that this was why his life was taken.

I want to lovingly, but clearly, say: no. My brother was not gang-related, nor did he do anything to “deserve” being shot in the head. Two men chose to take the life of an innocent father who was simply going to get his car. Literally, the detectives told us, “It was the wrong place at the wrong time,” it broke us.

The recent questions brought back memories of when his case was announced publicly and the comments I read online. Strangers dismissed him as “just another gang member who got killed.” At the time, I was so hurt and angry that I fought back with words. This time around, I responded in love.

I’ve grown since then, but those assumptions still cut deep. And today, I want to say this as a reminder: no victim of murder should ever be blamed for their own death. No one “warrants” being killed.

Assumptions are often born from a lack of understanding. But my brother was more than an assumption. He was a son, a brother, and a father of four and a coach whose life was stolen. And I will always honor his dignity, no matter what people may assume.

Feeling incredibly grateful to have presented the AngrlStrong Scholarships to two deserving players at Port Hueneme Little League . 🙏⚾️ Huge thanks to the league for allowing our family to honor our brother’s memory in such a meaningful way. His legacy lives on through the game and the young hearts who play it. 💙

So proud of my nephew for finishing the season strong — he made his dad proud. 💪🏽⚾️
