🎓As we continue celebrating World Youth Skills Day, we’re proud to look back at a major milestone. In May, our very first cohort of Bayside Skill Center Culinary students graduated!

With dedication, resilience, and creativity, these students completed a hybrid program that combined Rouxbe’s online training with in-person mentorship from Spirits Bar & Grill’s Executive Chef Troy Murrell.

They leave with more than just skills: they carry confidence, experience, and the readiness to take on real opportunities in the food service industry.

Today on World Youth Skills Day, we’re celebrating the power of learning to transform lives: one skill, one plate, one future at a time. 🌿🍽️

We’re especially grateful for our very first cohort of Bayside Skill Center Culinary students. Through a hybrid program combining Rouxbe’s online culinary training and hands-on instruction with Spirits Bar & Grill’s Executive Chef Troy Murrell, these students have learned everything from knife skills and sautéing to working the line under real kitchen heat.

Your support makes these life-changing opportunities possible. Thank you for helping us empower futures through food.

We know that we can't simply house someone and provide them a job without providing essential wrap around care that focuses on addressing the mental health of every individual in our program.

In Washington State, at least 13% of the homeless population has a mental illness. In some counties, over 50% of the homeless population has a mental illness. Today we highlight mental health, but it's a cornerstone of all that we do here at Bayside.

Find out more at: www.baysidehousing.org.

Experts cite complexity of problem, which is rooted in poverty, lack of affordable housing but includes medical, psychiatric, substance-use issues.
