September is sickle cell awareness month.
Sickle cell disease disproportionately affects the African American community, with approximately 1 in 365 Black babies born with SCD in the United States. 1 in 13 African Americans carries the sickle cell trait and don’t even know it. Awareness, early diagnosis, quality care, and research can make a meaningful difference.
Let’s know the facts, support families, break the stigma, and raise awareness. ❤️
Together, we can make an impact.
