Our hearts are heavy as we share the passing of our dear friend, Stefanie Overstreet.

Stefanie and her family have been part of the Show Mercy family for many years. She traveled with us to Uganda, encouraged this ministry, prayed for us, supported us, and believed in what God was doing through Show Mercy from the early days.

These photos are from 2012, when Stefanie traveled to Uganda with us. Looking through them brings back so many memories and reminds us just how long she has been part of the Show Mercy story.

But more than a supporter of Show Mercy, Stefanie was a dear friend. Her encouragement, friendship, and love have meant so much to Mike and Lori personally and to the entire Show Mercy family.

Our hearts and prayers are with her husband, Chris, their girls, and their entire family as they walk through this tremendous loss. Chris has faithfully served on the Show Mercy board for many years, and their whole family is very dear to us.

Stefanie, we are so thankful for you, for the years of friendship, for every prayer and word of encouragement, and for the part you have played in the Show Mercy story.

You are deeply loved, and you will be deeply missed.

School is back in session in Uganda! 🎒📚

Because of YOU, children are heading back to school with new backpacks filled with the supplies they need. ❤️

Imran is one of those children. He’s 8 years old and lives with his grandmother and brother. When their parents were no longer there to care for them, their grandmother, an elderly widow with no source of income, took both boys in.

Today, Imran is part of our Show Mercy sponsorship program, giving him the opportunity to go to school, learn, dream, and look forward to his future.

We’ve seen children carry their schoolbooks in plastic bags and even old cement sacks, so a new backpack filled with school supplies means more than you might realize.

THANK YOU to everyone who gave! You didn’t just put a backpack into the hands of a child who needed one. You blessed their family, too.

Just listen to those little voices. 💧❤️

Clean water changes so much for a child, a family and an entire community.

And the beautiful thing is, long after the drilling is finished, this water will keep flowing every single day.

To every person who has prayed, given and helped us bring clean water to communities across Uganda, listen closely.

Got a minute for a God story? 💙

Actually…we have a few.

It’s been a week since this team was together for medical outreach in Uganda, and we’re still getting messages about what happened during those three days.

We don’t want to rush past them.
There’s just SO much to celebrate.

WE WATCHED GOD DO WHAT MEDICINE COULDN’T.

Before our three-day medical/dental outreach began, the Lord spoke something to me:

“I am going to do more than shillings or dollars ever could.”

And we watched Him do it.

A man who had been blind began to see after prayer.

A woman with severe eye pain and a terrible headache was prayed for and healed.

A man who had lived with back pain for a year and a half was prayed for. The pain left.

A little child came with swollen hands. As our team prayed, they watched the swelling go down right in front of their eyes.

A Muslim mother and her 17-year-old son came looking for medical help. They both gave their lives to Jesus.

And then there was Sarah.

Sarah was carried into the medical outreach unconscious. She couldn’t open her eyes or speak. Her skin was cold and her breathing was shallow.

To anyone watching, it looked as though life was rapidly slipping away from her.

Our medical team took immediate action while others gathered around her and began to pray and sing over her.

They prayed over Sarah and, in Jesus’ name, commanded her to sit up.

And suddenly, she inhaled and took a deep breath.

She was filled with strength and sat straight up.

She opened her eyes and began talking.

And then she told us she had heard Jesus speak to her.

The woman who had been carried in was now walking out.

And before she left, Sarah gave her life to Jesus. ❤️

God did more than our shillings or dollars ever could.

And we watched Him do it.

Next week, we’re going to share more of Sarah’s story, along with photos and video from what happened.

So thankful for our incredible Uganda team, the nurses who traveled to serve alongside them, and every one of you praying and giving.

Tomorrow, we do it all over again. 🫶
