We are extremely proud to be able to serve the recovery community of Cecil and Harford counties, and continue this work in new ways through the help of this grant. County Executive Streight Announces Recipients of $800,000 in FY 2027 VLT Grant Funding

Elkton, MD – Cecil County Executive Adam Streight is pleased to announce the recipients of the competitive fiscal year 2027 Video Lottery Terminal (VLT) Local Community grants. The purpose of the VLT Local Community Grant Program is to provide funding to local nonprofit and not-for-profit agencies located or working in Cecil County to address the needs of the community in the priority areas noted in Cecil County’s Strategic Plan: Economic Development, Education, Infrastructure, and Safe, Healthy, and Active Communities. This competitive grant program is funded via a portion of VLT revenues from the Hollywood Casino in Perryville.

The VLT Grant Review Committee received a record 130 applications from local Cecil County organizations totaling more than $2M in requested funds. One hundred eight (108) grants were awarded totaling $800,000. Please note that organizations receiving multiple awards submitted applications addressing discrete Purpose Areas, as allowed in the application instructions.

“From supporting public safety initiatives and services for seniors and veterans to expanding opportunities for youth and individuals in recovery, these organizations play a vital role in strengthening our community,” said Cecil County Executive Adam Streight. “They are often able to meet needs and provide services in ways that complement the work of local government. Through programs like Video Lottery Terminal funding, we are proud to support their efforts and invest in the people and organizations that make Cecil County a better place to live, work, and raise a family.”

The Review Committee carefully considers and rates each application based on criteria to include the following: completeness of submission, goals and objectives, overall budget, population to be served, and measurable outcomes. In an effort to assist local organizations to submit successful proposals, the Department of Community Services (DCS) hosted an informational meeting on March 25, 2026, for applicants interested in learning more about the VLT grant process.

“Every year the selection process becomes increasingly difficult due to the quantity and quality of proposals submitted,” said DCS Director David Trolio. “This year’s process was no different and I applaud both the applicants for their inspired proposals as well as the Administration’s review team for their commitment to the evaluation process.”

We want to take a moment to shout out one of our residents for graduating Cecil County Drug Court on Friday! 🎉

Timmy, we are incredibly proud of the dedication and growth you have shown in your recovery, personal life, and professional life in the last two years. From coming into the program with nothing but a bag of clothes, to now having a thriving career, a license and vehicle, completed Drug Court, and now looking to purchase your own home. These are the reasons why we do what we do.

We want to shout out one of our OG Women's house residents, who celebrated one year in the house on Tuesday April 7th!

Andrea has stepped into a leadership role in the house, becoming someone who consistently shows up for the other women around her. This is a huge difference from the woman she was when she first arrived a year ago. She put in the work - regularly volunteering, purchasing her own car, and making huge strides in her mental health and overall wellbeing. Her transformation over the last year is a powerful reminder that with hard work and the right support, real change can happen.

We are so proud of you Andrea. Keep shining ✨️ and we cant wait to see what this year has in store for you!

We had the best time yesterday at the Kaleigh House where the girls hosted an easter egg hunt, egg dying, and dinner together. So much laughter, connection, and joy all in one place!!

We are on the lookout for a large picnic style dining table (like the one in the first photo) that can comfortably fit around 12 people AND a corner style dining table (like the one in the second photo) that can fit around 8 people. We are hoping to find the right fit for two of our Sober Living Homes, allowing our residents and even their families to share meals, connect, and spend time together 🍽🤍

Today we’re celebrating a HUGE milestone for our resident Isaiah... 1 year in recovery!! 🎉🥳

This past year hasn’t been easy. He’s faced real challenges and personal struggles, but instead of giving up, he chose to keep pushing forward. Since moving into our house around 6 months ago, we’ve watched him put in the work day in and day out. Showing up. Staying committed. Growing through it all.

Today, he’s working full time, building stability, and continuing to prove to himself, and everyone around him, what’s possible in recovery.

We are incredibly proud of you Isaiah, truly. Your resilience and dedication do not go unnoticed. Keep going 💙 One day at a time!

🎉 Milestone Alert: Timmy M's Three Years in Recovery! 🎉

Today, we celebrate Timmy - a true comeback story and a cornerstone of our program. When Timmy first joined us, he was facing tough times: in and out of prison, fighting serious legal battles, unemployed, and struggling to see a way forward. But Timmy never gave up.

Through grit, hard work, and a whole lot of heart, Timmy has rebuilt his life from the ground up. He’s held steady employment for over 2.5 years, overcome obstacles that once seemed impossible, and worked tirelessly on himself every single day. Not only that, Timmy started with zero credit, and now he’s got a near-perfect score. That’s real transformation!!

Timmy’s become a key piece of our community, showing up for others and proving that real change is possible, no matter where you start.

We’re so proud of you, Timmy. Your journey is proof that recovery isn’t just about getting by - it’s about building a life you’re proud of, one day at a time. 🛤️💪
