Hey Neighbor,

Summer is arriving in our tiny river town, and with it comes a new month full of opportunities to connect, learn, create, move our bodies, and spend time with our neighbors.

June kicks off with one of our favorite traditions, the 20th Annual Lower Susquehanna Rockfish Tournament. Whether you're casting a line, cheering on the anglers, or simply enjoying a day along the river, we hope you'll join us in celebrating this community event. There is stilltime to sign-up online at: https://communityconnecting.us/rockfish

This month also brings the start of Tuesday Morning Yoga with Nora, along with our regular Gentle Yoga classes with Becki. If you've been thinking about trying yoga, June is a great time to start. Both classes are pay-what-you-want and open to all experience levels.

You'll also find our Sewing Project Club, Knit Don't Quit, and Book Club Therapy gathering throughout the month, creating spaces where neighbors can learn new skills, share stories, and build friendships.

And don't forget to stop by Once Upon a Tome...A Bookshop and Ace Space Creative Corner on June 28. Browse for your next great read, spend time creating with Ashley, and make an afternoon of it by visiting the Port Deposit Heritage Museum next door.

Community doesn't happen by accident. It grows when neighbors choose to show up, spend time together, and invest in one another. We're grateful to be building that kind of community with you.

We hope to see you this month.

Hey Neighbor,

Today was the Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast for Bainbridge Elementary. Community Connecting Us is grateful to be in partnership with such a caring school community.

As a Community Resource School, Bainbridge does an incredible job fostering partnerships that support both students and their families. It is inspiring to see churches, parents, healthcare organizations, local businesses, industry leaders, and neighbors all working together on the same team to champion our students.

Principal George Whisner and Community School Coordinator Andrea Luthultz are gifts to the kids and to our entire community. Andrea serves with her whole heart, and her care and leadership have brought people together in a beautiful example of what community looks like in action.

CCU is grateful to be part of it.

Hey Neighbor,

We are excited to welcome Nora Judd to Community Connecting Us as she begins leading Tuesday Morning Yoga this summer.

Nora first discovered yoga during a particularly difficult season in her life after picking up the book *Power Yoga* by Beryl Bender Birch in 1999. What began as a personal practice slowly grew into a deeper commitment to the connection between mind, body, and wellness, and eventually into a desire to share that practice with others.

As Nora completes her Yoga Teacher Training through 1-Yoga in Wilmington, she will be offering Tuesday Morning Yoga at CCU beginning June 9th at 11 AM as part of her teaching practicum, with plans to continue weekly classes and future yoga-inspired workshops at CCU.

This gentle, pay-what-you-want class is open to neighbors at all experience levels. Whether you are brand new to yoga or returning to your mat, you are welcome here.

Please reserve your spot by texting 443-731-6080 or emailing [email protected]

We are grateful to continue creating opportunities for wellness, connection, and care for ourselves and our neighbors right here in our tiny river town.

The Lower Susquehanna Rockfish Tournament is celebrating 20 years!

For two decades, this tournament has brought together anglers, neighbors, families, and friends to enjoy the Susquehanna and celebrate the traditions that make our tiny river town special.

Whether you are a seasoned fisherman or just looking for a fun weekend connected to the water and community, we hope you will join in this year’s tournament.

A huge thank you to this year’s sponsors: Banks Auto Recyclers & Towing, The Carriage House of Port Deposit, Constellation, Whitetail Properties, Back Fin Blues, Lee’s Landing, the Town of Port Deposit, Rhoads Energy, and AMS. Events like this only happen because local businesses and organizations continue to invest in our community.

Here’s to 20 years and many more casts ahead.

Hey Neighbor,

For the 4th year in a row, Community Connecting Us was excited to be part of the Scottish Games.

Was our role glamorous? Not really. There is nothing especially magical about cleaning bathrooms, hauling trash bags, emptying cans, or checking tickets. But honestly, there is something deeply good about showing up and doing the work that helps thousands of people have a great weekend.

And thanks to our incredible volunteers Kat, Kevin, Alex, Brian, Andrew, Keely, and Trevor, we did just that.
We loved hearing the music drift across the grounds, watching the games, smelling all the amazing food, and seeing so many people gather together to laugh, celebrate, and enjoy community.

At CCU, we believe caring for a community sometimes looks like hosting an event and sometimes it looks like carrying a trash bag and a broom.

Together in Community,
Erica

Hey Neighbor,

A big thank you to the Port Deposit Post Office. They held their annual food drive to help stock local food cupboards, and today they filled the cupboard at Community Connecting Us.

We are grateful for their generosity and for the many ways they continue to show up as good neighbors in our community.

Thank you as well to everyone who donated.

Truly we are the luckiest.
