A look behind the scenes!

During our regular monthly Board of Trustees meeting yesterday, the OCCF board spent time discussing priorities, reviewing opportunities, and planning for the future of the Foundation. While much of our work happens out in the community, it begins with thoughtful conversations, careful planning, and a shared commitment to making a lasting difference across Ottawa County.

For nearly six decades, Ron and Janice Overmyer have called Ottawa County home. Through their careers, volunteer service and community involvement, they've helped make this a better place to live. Now, they're ensuring that commitment continues for generations to come.

By including OCCF in their estate plans, the Overmyers are making a lasting investment in the community they love.

Their story is a reminder that planned giving is one of the simplest ways to create a legacy that lives on. It helps ensure that future generations will continue to benefit from local nonprofits, scholarships and community initiatives throughout Ottawa County.

Back-to-school is here! OCCF wishes all of the students, teachers, administrators and school staff across Ottawa County a safe, successful and inspiring school year. We hope this school year is filled with new opportunities for all.

And to this year's seniors: graduation will be here before you know it! Now is the perfect time to start exploring scholarship opportunities and thinking about your next chapter.

Congratulations to Habitat for Humanity of Ottawa County Ohio on breaking ground for its next housing development in Port Clinton!

Projects like this show us what's possible when a community comes together with generosity, compassion, and a shared commitment to helping others. OCCF is honored to support Habitat's mission through our grantmaking and grateful for the work they continue to do to help local families achieve the dream of homeownership.

The Ottawa County Task Force on Aging's mission is to help older adults and their families connect with the programs, services, and support they need.

In this video, Executive Director Tory Thompson shares more about the organization and how the 2026 OCCF grant will help fund the printing of updated community resource directories. While many resources are available online, these printed guides remain an important way for many seniors to access information and stay connected to local services.

Tory shared this story during our Grants Breakfast earlier this summer, reminding us that community impact comes in many forms.

Thank you to the Ottawa County Task Force on Aging and Ottawa County Senior Resources for everything you do to support older adults.
