Please join us in congratulating Port Clinton Fire Fighter of the Year, Dr. Eric Zgodzinski!

Eric was chosen by his peers at the department. We were honored to host Eric and some of his fellow firefighters and his wife, Susie at our meeting this afternoon. Chief Gutman spoke highly of Eric's dedication to the department and the fact that he is willing to help with administrative tasks in the department. Dr. Zgodzinski has helped the department secure over a million dollars in grant funding!

We all depend on our firefighters and EMS to come rushing in during an emergency and they often go unrecognized for their efforts. True to form, a call came in during lunch and the firefighters dropped everything to assist a resident in need. We thank you all for your dedication and service to our community!

We enjoyed welcoming Captain Peg VanVleet to a meeting in August! What an informative presentation from someone who is very passionate about our Great Lakes!

The Port Clinton Kiwanis welcomed Capt. Peg VanVleet as the guest speaker at its Aug. 19 meeting. VanVleet discussed the impact of Fish Ohio on Lake Erie protections and the fragile future of the event that began in 1979. Learn more at the link in the comments.

This morning a few of our members cleaned the Dream Big/Catch of the Day sculpture on Madison at Perry Street. The sculpture was designed by Lauren Shaw and Megan Ziembuwicz and installed by our club in 2011.

Today we had the privilege honoring our first ever Port Clinton Fire Fighter of the Year. The honor was bestowed on J. Scott “Scotty” Morton. He was selected by his peers for the much deserved award. Chief Gutman shared that Scott has responded to 61% of fire calls in the last year. That is a huge commitment for a volunteer firefighter! Thank you for your service to our community, Mr. Morton! We appreciate you and all of the other Firefighters who give so much to protect and rescue our community.
