Jack Foley - raised in Port Chester and graduate of Port Chester High School, class of 1958. He was a well known poet and radio personality who performed on the Ed Sullivan Show while in high school with the Port Chester high school chorus.

Today we gather to celebrate the life, work, and lasting legacy of Jack Foley—a beloved poet, broadcaster, teacher, and friend whose voice helped shape KPFA and the Bay Area literary community for generations.

Join us today in honoring a life devoted to language, creativity, and connection.

We have had a REQUEST for help from Port Chester High School!

PCHS is "looking for someone who can help a few students learn why the Ram was chosen as the HS mascot. Do you know anyone who has this info or are there any documents these students could review? I am looking through some of the items we have but cannot find that specific information. "

THIS SOUNDS FASCINATING!!!

Presentation: The Clay Art Center Archives

Tuesday, May 19, 2026
5:00 PM 6:00 PM

Clay Art Center 40 Beech Street Port Chester, NY, 10573

Join us for an in-person presentation about the archive at Clay Art Center, presented by Kelsie Dalton, curator of the current exhibition Finding The Center and archivist. The event takes place on Tuesday, May 19th from 5:00-6:00pm at the Clay Art Center Gallery.

Archival materials - the letters, photographs, brochures, ticket stubs, and other odds and ends that form a record of existence - provide a window into the world of the past. With nearly 70 years of history, the Clay Art Center archives are rich in documentation of the people and ideas that have laid the foundation of our community. This presentation will give an overview of materials in the archive, dig into some of the unique records that informed Finding The Center, take a look at other rarely-scene materials, and dive deeper into the history of Clay Art Center.

This presentation is free and open to the public, and guests are encouraged to come early to view Finding The Center in the Gallery.

We have had a request for help! Please read and respond!

The writer says, "I’m researching a house my family lived in during the late 1960s to early 1970s in Port Chester, and I’m hoping you may have records, photos, or any historical information about it.

The house was located on North Main Street, across from the Byram pump house along the river. A neighboring property was 216 North Main Street, and we believe the house may have been around 220 North Main Street (based on older numbering).
From what my family remembers:
The home was described as a large mansion-style house, possibly an older estate that had been subdivided or rented.
My grandfather, William Hanson, lived there in the late 1960s / early 1970s.
There was reportedly a man named George renting a room in the house who passed away while living there.
The house is believed to have burned down sometime in the 1970s or early 1980s.
My mother also remembers there being tunnels or basement passageways beneath the house.
We are especially interested in:
The original owner or history of the property
Any photographs or maps showing the house
Any records of the fire or incidents connected to the property
Whether the house was part of a larger estate or notable structure in that area
We understand that the area has since been redeveloped, so we are trying to piece together what existed there before."
