Merit based grants for hard-working adult students
Merit based grants for hard working adult students. My name is David Keith. I graduated from a community college with honors when I was twenty six years old. Before that, I had failed at two attempts to get a degree. I had neither thought myself good enough, nor smart enough, to graduate from a university. I was working low-paying odd jobs and saw myself without a future. I now hold three degrees including a graduate degree in education, and I direct a well-known advanced science research program for public high school students. I succeeded in school for two reasons. First, I became highly motivated to improve my life. Second, I found people who supported my efforts to return to school. As an adult I found it difficult to accept the money that I needed because I didn't want a handout. I created EARN to promote personal academic responsibility for adults returning to school. EARN rewards high academic achievement with financial assistance, community-building, and the pairing of subject-certified tutors with adults students.
