💜 June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month 💜

This month, we're proudly changing our profile picture to help raise awareness for Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.

Many of the seniors we serve, along with their families and caregivers, are impacted by memory-related conditions. By wearing purple and sharing information, we can help increase understanding, support, and hope for those affected.

💙 A Story That Reminds Us Why We Do What We Do 💙

Recently, we received a heartfelt letter from the family of one of our meal recipients, and it serves as a powerful reminder that Meals on Wheels is about so much more than a meal.

Every day, our volunteers deliver warm, nutritious meals, but they also provide something just as important, a friendly visit and a wellness check that lets seniors and their families know someone cares.

When one of our volunteers arrived to deliver a meal and received no response at the door, they followed our wellness check procedures. That simple act of concern helped ensure the client received the emergency assistance she needed.

This is the heart of our mission. We are not just delivering nutritious meals, we are delivering connection, safety, independence, and peace of mind.

To our volunteers, donors, and supporters: thank you for making moments like this possible. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of seniors throughout our community every single day. 💙

MYTH: Meals on Wheels only delivers food.

FACT: Every delivery is also a friendly check-in, a familiar face, and a reminder to local seniors that they are not alone. ❣️

For many of the seniors we serve, that knock on the door means comfort, connection, and something to look forward to each day.

Last Thursday evening, we had a great fundraising event at Painting with the Twist in Port Charlotte.
Wanted to thank all of those that attended and supported this event!!
Also, a huge shout out to FM Dons who made and donated a beautiful platter for this event. We appreciate you.

Every five dollars raised at one of our fundraising event helps continue our mission to provide a hot and nutritious meal to homebound seniors in our community!!

Our Thrift Store and Facility will be closed on Monday May 25th in observance of Memorial Day.

On This Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. We are forever grateful for their courage, dedication, and sacrifice.
