Check out this latest study about the housing crisis in the United States - Out of Reach 2024: The High Cost of Housing.

This annual report focuses on the growing disparity between people's incomes and the cost of modest rental housing across the United States. Despite improvements in wages, inflation, and unemployment, low-wage workers and renters with limited incomes still face difficulties in affording rent. As a result, homelessness rates are increasing due to the lack of affordable housing options. Addressing these issues will require sustained federal support for affordable housing and the implementation of the Housing First approach to combat homelessness.

🔥 Attention Florida Residents: Stay Safe During the Heat Wave! 🔥

As the heat wave continues to scorch Florida, it's crucial to take steps to protect yourself and your loved ones. Here are some essential tips from Charlotte County Emergency Management

- Never leave people or pets in a closed car on a warm day.
- Find air-conditioned spaces like libraries and recreation centers if your home doesn’t have air conditioning.
- Take cool showers or baths and wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing.
- Reduce oven use to lower the temperature in your home.
- Seek shade and wear a wide-brimmed hat outdoors.
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids.
- Avoid high-energy activities and check on family members, older adults, and neighbors.
