Just an FYI…

🚨The Mid-County Transfer & Recycling Facility located at 19765 Kenilworth Blvd, Port Charlotte, will be partially closed starting Tuesday, Aug. 11 for renovations.

The facility will be open for scrap metal drop-off, household hazardous waste, sharps (hypodermic needles), waste tires, and recyclable items drop-off only. The C.A.R.E.’s ReUse store will also be closed.

Residents are encouraged to use the West Charlotte Mini-Transfer & Recycling Facility located at 7070 Environmental Way in Englewood. The hours of both facilities are 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

Shout out to Suncoast Credit Union Punta Gorda staff and friends that braved the heat to clean their Adopt a Road! They brought in one bag of debris and several large items! Great job everyone!

When we attended the Trashy Tuesday Celebration, we had two Ambush Awards with us! The second one was inspired by Trashy Tuesdays.

The Punta Gorda Girlfriends walk almost everyday and almost every day some of them cleanup. We want to thank all of the girlfriends who make sure no litter gets left behind, but a special shout out to two of the members who are standouts on daily cleanups Mary Meyer and Nancy Hull. Great job ladies!

Keep Charlotte Beautiful’s mission is the inspire and educate people to take action every day to improve and beautify Charlotte County. That “that take action everyday” is why the Punta Gorda Girlfriends were chosen for the 25.26 KCB Ambush Awards for Everyday Cleanups! Congratulations to every one of you who are supporting this effort!

Thank you to Suncoast Humane Society for sharing this.
This is not a donation. It is illegal dumping. It happens too often and has many costs for the charity that the store supports. Not only did people go through it and take items but what was left was ruined by the weather. What is not mentioned here is that these stores pay for there trash dumpsters to be emptied.
That is not inexpensive.
When people do this, it takes away from the funds they raise.
Please donate responsibly.

PSA…To the couple that dropped this off last night at 9:00 this is what happens when you drop-off donations when we are closed. And to the lady that took most of it at 2:30 this morning. The rain ruined the rest of it. We have cameras. The harsh reality of not dropping off during our regular hours. This morning was spent cleaning up. Please don’t do this. It only makes things worse when your intentions are probably in the right place. It didn’t end well. This is being posted as this is not unusual and we need it to stop. 🛑

On Monday evening, Keep Charlotte Beautiful Executive Director Rhonda Harvey had the honor of presenting the Volunteer of the Year Ambush Award to Monica Christiansen.

Each year, KCB carefully selects an exemplary volunteer in the community who embodies the values of the organization.

Christiansen, a member of Punta Gorda Girlfriends, started Trashy Tuesday a year ago with the goal of making a positive impact in her community.

Not only is Christiansen a sensational volunteer on a mission, but she is also an inspiration and a leader in her community. For that, KCB is incredibly grateful.

We look forward to seeing the continued impact of her volunteer work. Congratulations, Monica! 💙
