Sunday mornings at JLY look a little different. ❤️

Every Sunday, our doors open at 8:00 a.m. for campers who want to join us for church.

Before we ever leave JLY, there’s breakfast waiting. There’s a hot shower. There are clean clothes. There’s coffee, conversation, prayer, and people who are genuinely glad they came.
Then, together, we head to Murdock Baptist Church for the 9:30 a.m. service.

Because sometimes getting to church isn’t as simple as getting in the car and going.
When you’re living outside, Sunday morning may mean waking up in the woods. It may mean you haven’t had a shower in days or don’t have clean clothes to wear. Those things can become barriers that keep someone from walking through the doors of a church.

So we do what we can to remove the barriers.
We feed them. We help them get cleaned up. We give them something clean to wear. And then we go to church together.

Not “us” taking “them” to church.

All of us going to worship Jesus together. ❤️

That’s Sunday morning at Jesus Loves You Ministry—and it’s one of our favorite mornings of the week.

🌻 VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: SUZANNE 🌻

They say great things come in small packages, and our Suzanne proves that to be absolutely true! ❤️

Suzanne may be tiny, but don't let that fool you—this lady is a powerhouse! And if you're planning to hang out with her for the day, you better wear comfortable shoes because she never. slows. down. 😂

Suzanne tackles laundry, delivers lunches during our mobile outreach, jumps in to help our thrift store cashiers, and is always ready to lend a hand wherever she's needed.

And then there's that laugh! If you've spent any time around JLY, chances are you've heard Suzanne before you've seen her. Her laugh travels, and so does the joy that comes with it. She has a wonderful way of lifting the spirits of everyone around her.

Suzanne serves hard, laughs big, loves people well, and brings joy everywhere she goes.

She's simply the best, and we love her so! ❤️

🌻 VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: BOB 🌻

If it’s Wednesday at JLY, you can count on two things: Bob will be at the front door…and there will probably be a joke. 😂

After we finish our morning prayer with the campers, Bob can usually be counted on to have a funny—or at least he thinks it’s funny—joke ready to share with everyone. 😉 And whether we’re laughing at the joke or at Bob, one thing is certain: we’re laughing together.

But behind the jokes is a man with a genuine heart for people and for Jesus.

Bob is wonderful with our campers and there’s nothing he loves more than seeing men and women come to faith in Christ. And if you need prayer? Just ask him. Whatever Bob is doing can wait. He’ll stop, pray with you, encourage you, and remind you where our hope comes from.

He brings joy to our Wednesdays, loves our campers well, and understands that sometimes ministry looks like sharing the Gospel, sometimes it looks like stopping to pray—and sometimes it looks like telling a joke. 😂

Bob, you are such a blessing to JLY! Thank you for your faithfulness, your heart for Jesus, the way you love our campers, and for making sure we never take ourselves too seriously. ❤️🙏

🌻 MEET THE TEAM: AMBER CHRISTOPHER 🌻

Meet Amber Christopher, JLY’s Operations Manager!

Amber has been part of the JLY family for more than five years, and during that time, she has worn just about every hat imaginable. Her experience across so many areas of the ministry gives her a unique understanding of both the people we serve and the day-to-day work it takes to keep JLY moving forward.

When we asked Amber why she loves working at JLY, she had this to say:

💬 “Working at Jesus Loves You Ministry is such a meaningful part of my life. What I love most is the opportunity to meet people right where they are and remind them that they are seen, valued, and loved—not only by us, but by Jesus.

It truly is a blessing to be paid to do something I honestly would do for free. It’s a privilege to work here and an even greater privilege to be able to make even a small difference in the lives of our campers.

Every person has a story, and I’m grateful that I get to be part of their journey, even if it’s just for a season. Knowing that something as simple as a conversation, a helping hand, or a little encouragement can bring hope to someone’s day is what makes this work so special to me.

I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve, to love, and to be a small part of what God is doing through Jesus Loves You Ministry.”

• Men’s clothing - size small, including boxer briefs

• Women’s underwear - size small

• Bug spray

• Bath towels

Donations may be brought to Jesus Loves You Ministry headquarters before 2 PM, Monday-Friday.

Everyone Has a Story. ❤️

If you come through the doors of JLY on a Friday, there’s a good chance Pat Spence will be one of the first people you meet.

Pat runs our front door, checking campers in for services, but her favorite part of serving has nothing to do with a clipboard or a check-in sheet. She loves talking with our campers and getting to know the person sitting in front of her.

Today, Pat decided to ask each person a simple question:

“What kind of work did you do in the past?”

The answers might surprise you.

🔨 Carpentry
🚛 Over-the-road truck driving
💇 Hairstyling
🎵 Playing music
💼 Owning and operating a business for 30 years

And those were just a few.

Sometimes when we meet someone experiencing homelessness, we see their current circumstances without knowing anything about the life that came before them.

Every person who walks through our doors has a story. They have talents and skills. They’ve had careers, raised families, built businesses, experienced successes and disappointments, and lived entire chapters of life that we may know nothing about.

That’s one of the reasons relationships matter so much at JLY.

Thank you, Pat, for doing more than checking people in. Thank you for taking the time to know them. ❤️

Because sometimes the best way to love your neighbor is simply to sit down, ask a question, and listen to the answer.
