The Charlotte Local Education Foundation works with the statewide program, Take Stock in Children, which provides scholarships and mentoring to more than 18,000 young people. The program identifies low income students in middle school who have the potential to go to college. If the students keep good grades, remain drug and crime free during the program, a college tuition scholarship is awarded. S

tudents are paired with a caring adult mentor through high school. The Charlotte Local Education Foundation recruits mentors and donors.
