In 2017 "We began as a group of women who had known each other for several years and love the dachshund breed. We all had dachshunds of our own and have been fosters for many years. We began fulfilling our dream by starting a rescue for less fortunate dachshunds than our own, who have either been neglected, mistreated or given up for any other reason that makes these animals homeless. We strive to

get them the medical treatment they need, excellent foster care, and ultimately finding the best "forever" home where they will be loved for the rest of their lives.

🐾 From learning to trust to learning what “home” feels like.

Happy Tails, Taco! ❤️

Taco came to Low Rider from a hoarding situation. In his foster home, he was given something incredibly important: time, patience and a safe place to learn to trust.

And look at him now.

Taco has found his forever family, complete with loving parents and furry siblings. His new family tells us:

“We love him so much! He’s so sweet & cuddly! He’s been zooming around with his new BFF Chihuahua brother & feeling right at home!”

Those zoomies mean a little more when you know where his story began. 🥹

This senior boy is happily in his forever home. 🐾

This boy had a rough life before he came to us, he was found abandoned in a backyard and living outside, no place to spend your golden years! We are so happy that this boy will now have a gentle life of walks, treats, and (he hopes) the big bed!✨

This 7 year old, 18 pound girl is looking for her forever home!

Roxy is a cuddly loyal girl looking for her person. Once Roxy decides you’re it, she'll spend her time following at your heels, gazing into your eyes, cuddling close, and making sure she doesn’t miss a thing!

Roxy passes other small dogs without issue out in public and is currently fostered with two, but she can be possessive of her people, food, and toys, so we believe she'd be happiest as the only dog in her forever home.

She's okay on a leash in certain situations and does well at the park, but traditional neighborhood walks aren't really her thing. She loves following her people around outdoors and exploring wherever there's room to roam.

House training is still a work in progress and she needs frequent trips outside on a consistent schedule, but she sleeps well through the night in her dog bed. She does have some separation anxiety and may bark when first left alone.

If you're looking for a devoted little shadow who wants to follow you from room to room and call you her very own, Roxy might be the girl for you!

🌈🐾 Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day

Today, we remember the dogs who left paw prints on our hearts and memories that still make us smile.

The little feet following us from room to room. The favorite spot on the couch. The familiar bark. The silly habits we’d give anything to see one more time.

For those of us who have loved and lost a dog, they remain part of our story long after they’re gone. 💙
