2026 Memorial Day service in Port Byron. It was a beautiful, sunny morning for the service. Several Rotarians were a part of the service. American Legion Coe Lamb Post 421 Commander Roger Oliver, Port Byron Village Mayor Barb Rudsell Cray, Rapids City Fire Protection District Firefighter Mary Beth Eggers, and Army Veteran and retired WIU professor Tom Bridge helped pay tribute to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice during war time as well as all those who have served our country proudly.

This morning Rotarians Kelley Johnsen Doty and Jim Perkins volunteered alongside Cordova American Legion Post 1033 members to place American flags at each veterans grave at the Cordova cemetery. We were honored to help again this year. Our club also oversees Wreaths Across America at the cemetery every December.

Today Rotarian Kelley Johnsen Doty along with hundreds of volunteers placed flags at each of the headstones at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Past Rotarians Carl L Palmer, Keith Speckman, and Les Johnson along with their wives are laid to rest there. Our club is honored to volunteer for this Memorial Day tradition.
