Dear Friends,
There are moments in ministry that require both courage and trust. This is one of those moments.
After much prayer, seeking counsel, and careful discernment, the Board of Directors of New Beginnings Ministries has voted to dissolve the formal organization and transfer all remaining assets to Ecclesia Port Arthur. We did not ask, “How do we close something?” We asked, “How do we protect and continue what God has begun?”
We want you to hear this directly from us, as you are the support base who have walked this journey with us for many years.
This decision was not rushed. It was weighed carefully. And it was made with a deep desire to honor the Lord, to steward resources wisely, and to ensure that the fruit of this ministry continues to grow. We believe that this decision most appropriately honors the lives and legacies of my late parents, Dr. Henry and Beverly Holland.
Why Ecclesia Port Arthur?
Ecclesia Port Arthur was chosen for shared convictions, values, and heart. Pastor Carlos Torres and the church leadership carry the same commitment to the gospel, the same desire to serve people faithfully, and the same vision for meaningful kingdom impact. We trust the leadership of Ecclesia Port Arthur, and there is extensive relational history. This is not a handoff to strangers; it is a continuation among friends and co-laborers. Pastor Carlos was one of a few special men whom my parents counted as a “son.”
Most importantly, Ecclesia has the structure and capacity to steward New Beginnings' resources responsibly and fruitfully. Rather than maintaining a separate administrative framework and legal entity, we believe consolidation strengthens the work and reduces unnecessary burden. It positions the vision for greater health and sustainability. In fact, this option was discussed between my parents and me several years ago when their health began to decline.
What This Means
This is not a story of failure. It is a story of faithful transition! Ministries have seasons. Sometimes obedience means starting something new. Sometimes obedience means placing what we have built into trusted hands for the next chapter. Every dollar given, every prayer prayed, every act of generosity has mattered. Lives have been touched. Seeds have been planted. Impact has been real. That impact does not disappear. It carries forward.
All assets will be transferred legally and with integrity. The board of directors for New Beginnings Ministries has engaged a reputable nonprofit attorney who is actively working with us in this process. The required state and IRS filings will be completed in accordance with Texas law. This is a multi-step process that will likely take another 6-8 weeks. The primary work of transferring the resources to Ecclesia Port Arthur will be completed in short order (within several weeks). The financial processes, including the tax filings for 2025 and 2026, will take place following. Lastly, our attorney will file the final dissolution document with the state of Texas.
All current recurring donations that are scheduled through New Beginnings will soon be discontinued. If you have recently given a gift to New Beginnings, your money is safe and will be directed to Ecclesia Port Arthur into a designated fund set up to steward the vision and outreach activities. You can be assured that your gifts will go to their intended purpose. This transfer to Ecclesia has not yet taken place but will be done in the coming few weeks.
Continuing support for the outreach!
Ecclesia Port Arthur has established a designated fund to receive ongoing donations for the outreaches they will now oversee. This ensures that the heart of these ministries (such as Operation Christmas Blessings and Back to School) remains visible, accountable, and mission-focused. Contributions directed to this fund will be stewarded intentionally to sustain and expand those outreach efforts. For those who desire to continue giving, there will be a clear and simple pathway to do so under Ecclesia’s leadership, with the same spirit of integrity and kingdom purpose.
Personally, I want to encourage you, especially for those in Southeast Texas, to continue supporting these outreach activities through Ecclesia. Visit online at https://ecclesiapa.churchcenter.com/giving and select Missions Outreach. If desired, you can also add a MEMO and indicate that you were originally supporting New Beginnings. This would help Ecclesia's accounting processes determine the intention of the gift.

You believed in this work. You supported it. You prayed for it. You gave sacrificially. We do not take that lightly. Transitions can feel bittersweet. There is always a sense of closing one chapter while stepping into another. Yet we believe the Lord is faithful in both.
We are confident that Ecclesia Port Arthur will lead with integrity and vision. We are confident that what has been entrusted to New Beginnings will continue to bear fruit. And we are confident that the Kingdom of God is not limited to organizational structures; it advances through obedience.
