This is Jana Andrews Dalton. I have been honored to be your social media director for over a year. My last day is today. I have been a Parrothead since 1989. Jimmy’s creed has been a light since my debut on Carolina Beach that year in the surf donning a teenie bikini and a smile.
I’m sure that many of you can relate. It was an epiphany of kindness and cool. No politics, just let’s raise money for people that need help and be kind.
I would like remind you of our creed before signing off. I love you all. Let’s keep this going, and PLEASE be nice to each other. fins up!
Here you go:
The Parrothead Creed is a popular, defining philosophy shared among fans of Jimmy Buffett. It emphasizes that being a Parrothead is not just about loving the music, but about embracing a specific, warm-hearted lifestyle. The creed reads:The complete text of the Parrothead Creed highlights a shared love for the ocean, the planet, and having fun, while embracing silliness, love, and the belief that life's best things cannot be bought. It concludes that fans are not Parrotheads because of Jimmy Buffett, but rather fans of Jimmy Buffett because they share these values.Key Themes of the CreedEscapism & Joy: Believing in taking a mental vacation, letting go of life's rigid stresses, and living in the moment.Community: Prioritizing deep friendships and a tight-knit network. This is heavily reflected in the official Parrot Heads in Paradise clubs, which double as massive charitable fundraising organizations.
Environmentalism: A core dedication to preserving beaches, oceans, and marine life—a passion shared by Buffett himself.
Jimmy Buffett is revered as chief poet, insofar as he has best espoused a philosophy of cheerful hedonism. We are not Parrot Heads because we are Jimmy Buffett fans. We are Parrot Heads because: We love the ocean. We love our planet. We love to have fun.
