The Olympic Adventure Trail Run (OAT Run) is a one-way half marathon and 12K on a route that traverses Kelly Ridge between the Olympic National Park and the Strait of Juan de Fuca in Washington State. Course Description
The 12K is a one-way course starts with a half-mile run downhill on a gravel road before hitting single-track goodness. The trail becomes rolling, but finishes with an almost thre
e mile downhill cruise. Well, except for that short (but steep) hill at the finish line! Runners will have a high-quality, excellently-maintained trail on which to pass through a variety of forest ages. If the weather cooperates, there will be a fantastic view up the Elwha valley from the “living room” at mile four. The half marathon is similar with a rolling course, final downhill cruise at the end (except that pesky hill at the finish line), but the 1/2 mile of gravel road at the start is uphill. Runners will still visit the Living Room, but it will be just before mile 10. No t-shirts for this run—runners get an OAT Run pint glass (and contents) to commemorate the run, as well as food and refreshments after the race. A portion of the proceeds from this race will be donated to the Peninsula Trails Coalition, for use in the construction and maintenance of the Olympic Discovery Trail and Olympic Adventure Trail.
