Fun fact: Superintendent Marty Brewer's car allowance for 2023-2024 ($600 per month) is more than the District's total financial offer for the 134 paraeducators currently working in the District.

Join us this Thursday for a community forum on the school district budget, spending, and priorities, and please share with parents, allies, and the broader community!

"No group that works as hard as all of us do at Port Angeles School District, certified and classified, should ever have to bargain a cost-of-living. That should be automatic. We're not out here to strike or bargain to break the bank or take from kids. We're saying, your priorities have to start with those that are taking care of the kids. And I've said this to Superintendent (Marty) Brewer, "Who's taking care of us? That's your job."

Amazing turnout last night at the school board meeting! There were more than 100 Paraeducators, teachers, and parents in attendance in RED in support of a fair contract for paras.

Thank you to those who addressed the board with your compelling stories, and thank you to everyone who showed up. We are united, we are strong, and we won't back down until the school board and Superintendent Brewer bargain a fair contract that includes the cost of living adjustment funded by the legislature.

Today, the PAPEA bargaining team visited members at all worksites to connect, deliver t-shirts, and remind all staff and allies to show up the the school board meeting tomorrow at 5 pm! (Pizza provided by the union!)

We had a fantastic day with all of you, and look forward to seeing you tomorrow as we collectively raise our voices for a fair contract for Paraeducators!

Still no new contract.

No one wants to put our community through the disruption of a strike on April 8, but they're leaving us little choice when we can no longer afford for our paychecks to move backward against inflation and our students can no longer afford to keep losing dedicated paraeducators.

Next Thursday, March 14, we need everyone to attend the school board meeting to show them that we mean business. Maybe seeing their friends and neighbors there-all wearing red- will remind them we're real people and we deserve respect.

Please RSVP via the QR code or link in the image. Thank you!
