Olympic Discovery Trail Olympic Discovery Trail is the mission of the Peninsula Trails Coalition, a nonprofit founded in 1988. More than 90 of its 135 miles are complete.

The Olympic Discovery Trail (ODT) traverses approximately 135 miles across the Olympic Peninsula, bordered by the Olympic Mountains and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The ODT begins in the Victorian seaport of Port Townsend and continues west to the Pacific Ocean. It is a wide, paved path for cyclists, hikers, runners, wheelchair users, and equestrians. (No motorized vehicles besides wheelchairs and mobility scooters.) Construction began in the 1990s. Completed sections currently total more than 70 miles, plus the 25-mile singletrack Adventure Route section.

This week the Clallam County Thursday Crew plans continued work on crib wall installation near mile 14 on the Olympic Adventure Trail. They will continue tread maintenance, drainage efforts and brush trimming in the mile 14 vicinity and eastward.

The City of Port Angeles will be closing a popular section of the Olympic Discovery Trail between 10th Street and 18th Street in the west central section. Planning pavement repair to eliminate some of the root bumps. There is a bypass route using "O" street and other City Streets. Please stay out of the work area. The ODT section between Sequim Bay State Park and Barker Road (East Central Section) will be closed Monday through Thursday between 0730 and 1700 starting 12October for removal of root bumps and repaving. The work is expected to be completed by 22October.
Please bypass or avoid the work area when the project is active. Heavy equipment will be in use. It is loud and operators wear hearing protection.
Expect the surface to be difficult riding when it is available until the project is completed.

Some of you may remember a short closure of the area to test another technique that did not work out.

If you live or are staying near the Olympic Discovery Trail, consider leaving the car behind and making the ODT part of your CrabFest adventure.

Walk, run or bike your way toward the Port Angeles waterfront and arrive right in the middle of the action — fresh Dungeness crab, live music, vendors and all the CrabFest fun waiting for you.

It’s a pretty great way to get here, too.

Fall is officially here on the Olympic Peninsula 🍁

There are some fun events happening along the ODT in October.

First up, this Saturday it will be a bit busy along the Spruce Railroad Trail section with the Run the Peninsula Race Series Spruce Railroad Run. They have a record crowd participating this year.

After that, downtown Port Angeles gets taken over by The Dungeness Crab Festival - a free seafood festival with live music, vendors, and classic fall festival fun. Skip the parking issues and bike to CrabFest along the ODT! The festival will be on Lincoln Street and spread throughout the City Pier.

Then on October 17-18, the 5th Annual Olympic Peninsula Fungi Festival takes over the same footprint with educational sessions, artisan vendors, and all the fungi fun.
