Professional membership organization dedicated to service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. The Rotary Club of Port Allen was chartered on August 14, 1959 by a group of businessmen who felt a need to work toward the improvement of the livelihood of the community.

📣📣MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Butch Plauche'📣📣

Matthew “Butch” Plauche’, Jr. is a long-time member of the club. A graduate of University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a degree in agricultural economics, he worked in the Louisiana sugar industry for more than 48 years.

Butch currently serves as VP of Harry L. Laws & Co. Inc. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, reading, traveling and spedning time with his family.

When asked what he likes most about Rotary, he says: “I enjoy meeting and working with fellow business men and women of the community. Rotary helps me stay connected to the communikty and informed of what is going on around the area.”

Tonight, we gathered for our annual Installation Banquet. It was a great night of food, fellowship and recognition for our past and future club leadership. We congratulate Tamie Martin who served as club president for 2025–26 and welcome Clay Elliott as our 2026–27 club president. We also congratulate Toby Willis as Rotarian of the Year for his hard work in organizing our annual golf tournament. Brandy Miller took her oath as ongoing club treasurer, and Kendall Hebert was installed as club secretary. We missed several members who were unable to attend but are grateful for the members and their guests who were able to join us tonight. 💙💛

📣📣MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Jean Crites📣📣

Jean Crites has been a long-time member of our club. Although a native of Texas with a distinctive “twang,” she considers herself a true Louisianian after living her for more than 50 years. Jean is an LSU alumna, spent two years in the classroom as a teacher and then embarked on a 32-year career with Dow Chemical, serving as corporate counsel for her last 18 years with the company.

Having an entrepreneurial spirit, she has had numerous businesses on the westside, including a retail shop, storage facility, title company, and notary services. Currently, Jean is the owner of Levee View RV Park, located south of Plaquemine, which provides rentals for construction workers.

Although semi-retired, she continues to be very involved in community activities, organizations and her church, with a goal of helping others and making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

When asked what she likes most about Rotary, she says: “As a Rotarian, I have the opportunity to build close relationships with other club members while supporting the needs of our local community. At Rotary, we have fun, form long-term friendships, learn so much from our guest speakers - all while gaining personal joy in serving others. It’s ‘Service Above Self.’”

👩‍🎓🧑‍🎓Rotary scholarships awarded to local students📚💙💛

The Port Allen Rotary Club recently awarded several local high school graduating seniors with scholarships for their community service and dedication to their community.

The scholarships were presented at the Port Allen High School and Brusly High School end-of-the-year award ceremonies as well as today's club meeting. We congratulate the award winners and wish them the best as they continue to serve their community while in college.

📣📣MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Joni LeRay📣📣
Joni LeRay moved to West Baton Rouge Parish more than 20 years ago from Tangipahoa Parish. Joni studied business administration at Southeastern Louisiana University and proceeded to follow her grandmother and mother’s footsteps in banking. She started her banking career in 1997 and currently serves as vice president at The Cottonport Bank in Brusly.

Joni served as president of the Port Allen Rotary Club for the 2012-2013 year. She also serves as an ambassador for the West Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce, a position she’s held since 2013. Over the years, Joni has completed many trainings and certifications at the Louisiana Banker’s Association. Joni graduated from LSU’s Graduate School of Banking in 2023.

In her spare time, Joni enjoys spending time with her husband, Ron, their two boys, Blake and Lane, and their dog, Zea.

When asked what she loves about Rotary, she says:
“I love that Rotary is involved in the community, and we donate back to our community to help others. I love our annual events and just getting to meet people and spread love to our community.”
