We wanted to share this wonderful resource with everyone. Our very own Unci Martha played an important role in its creation, traveling to North Dakota to collaborate with Standing Rock Iyápi Program over the past several years to actively contribute her knowledge, voice, and guidance throughout the process.

Congratulations, Unci Martha, and pilamaya for the time, dedication, and wisdom you shared to help create something that will benefit future generations. We are grateful for your commitment to preserving and passing on knowledge for our children, grandchildren, and all those yet to come. ❤️💛🖤🤍

LLE Director, Emmy Her Many Horses-Michaud, traveled to Savannah, Georgia for the Rural School Leadership Academy. As the culminating gathering for the RSLA fellowship, she visited Candler County Schools and learned about the work they are doing to serve their rural community through collaborative community-school initiatives. As a part of the fellowship, Emmy has had the opportunity to enrich her capacity as a leader and bring back ideas from other rural communities across the nation.

Our students got their hands in the soil as they learned how to plant potatoes in their raised garden beds. 🌱🥔

The children worked together preparing the beds, placing each seed potato carefully into the soil, and learning how gardens help provide healthy food for our community. Raised beds give our students a chance to learn gardening skills in a hands-on way while also teaching patience, teamwork, and responsibility.

These moments connect our children to the earth, to healthy living, and to the joy of watching something they planted grow. We are excited to care for these gardens and see the potatoes thrive throughout the season. 🌿💚

is May 21! Did you know that only 0.4% of philanthropic funding from large US foundations is directed to Native communities? This year we are raising funds to support our Lakota Immersion Montessori School! We provide a space where children can openly and freely be Lakota in every aspect of their mind, spirit, body, and life, we are fostering belonging, resilience, and pride in identity. The result is that children grow up confident in who they are, equipped with both academic achievement and traditional knowledge to lead.
