The Dixon Theater: Home of PAPA A renovated historic building on Main Street that is home to the Poplarville Academy of Performing Arts. We have worked hard to provide for our community.

On January 27, 2011, a group of five people that shared a common interest met to open The Dixon Theater. The Dixon Theater doors are always open to everyone in the community of Poplarville and surrounding areas! Hi there folks. We have been away for a little while. But not for much longer. We are under renovation and plan to make a comeback soon.

We will be selling goodies during the Sweet Mississippi Tea Festival this Saturday in Poplarville to help with the renovation of the building. Termites tried to to take us out, but we are coming back with a better building and brighter vision for The Dixon. Please stay tuned.

Ladies and gentlemen, as of now we are homeless. We need your help. Productions are so insanely expensive to do and if we don’t have help getting sponsors, we will not be able to continue. We want to do this for you. We want to keep providing entertainment to the public and continue providing performance opportunities and learning experiences to our members. Who can sponsor?

Here is an opportunity for a weeklong summer camp next month in Bogalusa, Louisiana! This was passed along to us through one of our volunteers. From what we understand, it’s a very hands on Performing Arts camp and past attendees enjoyed it very much and learned a lot from the experience.

We are saddened to say that our building is so heavily damaged by termites that we can no longer operate inside of it for safety reasons. PAPA will continue to produce shows and provide entertainment for the community like we have since our creation. Please be patient with us as we work out the details of our performances and future.
