The City of Poplar Bluff/PBFD has been working on updating the emergency sirens for the past few months. The update was completed today. When emergencies arise, seconds matter. With this new update, when the National Weather Service issues a tornado warning for our area, the sirens will automatically sound. Saving time which may in turn save lives. We still have the ability to set them off manually if needed.

A father, a son and a brother. Jackson was always a friendly face to see whenever we worked with the Butler County Fire Protection District. What a great way to honor him and his family.

**FALLEN BUTLER COUNTY FIREFIGHTER TO BE HONORED AT MEMORIAL SERVICE THIS WEEKEND**

A fallen Butler County firefighter will be honored at a memorial service this weekend.

Missouri’s fire service will host memorial services at the Fire Fighters Memorial of Missouri in Kingdom City to honor the state’s fallen firefighters. On Saturday at 7 p.m., a candlelight vigil will be held for all Missouri firefighters who have died while serving their communities.

On Sunday, at 10:30 a.m., a memorial service will be held in which attention will be called to five Missouri firefighters recognized recently as having died in the line of duty, including Butler County Fire Protection District Shift Commander Jackson Warren.

Warren died in the line of duty on March 6th when a brush truck he was driving to respond to a grass fire crashed in a single vehicle accident.

Warren’s name has also been added to a monument wall commemorating Missouri firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their fellow Missourians.

Governor Mike Kehoe has proclaimed October 4th as Fire Service Memorial Day in Missouri.
