Aretas Assistance Dogs

Aretas Assistance Dogs Aretas trains service dogs for children with chronic disabilities and life-threatening illnesses.

All of the training at Aretas is accomplished using innovative positive reinforcement methods to produce a happy working dog. As Animal Behaviorist Jean Donaldson says, “Fear is very easy to condition and very difficult to get rid of.” For this reason, as well as our commitment to treat both our clients and our dogs with respect, compassion, and fairness, aversive and punitive methods are not a p

art of our training program. Although some assistance dog training facilities incorporate choke and prong collars in their training programs and even ear pinch methods to teach retrieving skills, Aretas dogs are never trained in this way or sent out to our clients on control based collars. You can be assured that a dog from Aretas has been raised and trained with loving, motivational techniques.
