The Finding Nemo Jr. cast moved on to a new phase today and started adding movement to their performance. Today's vocabulary words include:
Blocking - The actor's movements around the stage in a play or musical, not including the Choreography. The director usually "blocks" the show (or assigns blocking) during rehearsals.
Choreographer - A person who creates and teaches the dance numbers in a musical.
Choreography - The dances in a musical that are often used to help tell the story.
Cross - An actor's movement to a new position onstage.
Stage Directions - Words in the script that describe character actions that are not part of the dialogue.
Stage Left - The left side of the stage, from the actor's perspective.
Stage Right - The right side of the stage, from the actor's perspective.
Downstage - The part of the stage closest to the audience; the opposite of upstage.
Upstage - The part of the stage farthest from the audience; the opposite of downstage.

The VP Unified Show is a crowd favorite every year and this year the Vermillion Players Board of Directors and director Laura Baumgartner are happy to announce that this year’s show will be the classic tale SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARVES!

Auditions are tentatively scheduled for August 18 and 19 so keep your eyes peeled for more information to come in the next few months!

Some of the cast of Finding Nemo Jr. had their first practice today. This year we thought it might be fun to define some of the terms used in the actor's glossary that these young actors are learning. Today's practice is known as a read-through. Here are a few terms we learned today during our practice:
Read-Through: An early rehearsal of a play at which actors read their dialogue from scripts without blocking or memorized lines.
Dialogue: A conversation between two or more characters.
Director: A person who provides the artistic vision, coordinates the creative elements, and stages the play.
Lines: The dialogue spoken by the actors.
Objective: What a character wants to do or achieve.
