Due to smoke from the Canadian wildfires, air quality in Pontiac and across southeast Michigan has reached unhealthy levels. Seniors, young children, and anyone with heart or lung conditions are especially at risk. State officials have issued air quality alerts as wildfire smoke continues to impact the region. 💙 **Please check on the seniors in your life today.**

* Encourage them to stay indoors with windows and doors closed.
* Run air conditioning on recirculate if possible.
* Avoid outdoor exercise or strenuous activities.

* If they experience trouble breathing, chest pain, or severe coughing, seek medical attention immediately.

With temperatures expected to climb close to **100° this week**, let's look out for one another—especially our senior citizens in and around Pontiac.

Please take a few minutes to check on an elderly neighbor, family member, or friend. A simple visit to ensure they are cool can make all the difference. Make sure they have some type of fan or air conditioner to stay cool.

💧 Encourage them to:
• Drink plenty of water, even if they don't feel thirsty.
• Stay indoors or in air-conditioned spaces during the hottest part of the day.
• Wear lightweight clothing.
• Never leave anyone—or pets—in a parked vehicle.
