We enjoyed meeting new friends/business owners today at Hometown Delights/ Delicias De Mi Pueblo in Pontiac. If you have not been there for some Ray's ice cream, fresh fruit smoothies, horchata, or bionico, you are seriously missing out! They are open through next weekend (December 11), then closed for the season, so get yourself over there fast!! And follow their page for updates on when they will open in the Spring :)

It's been a LONG time since we've posted an update, but we have some exciting news for all of you! As many of you know, our family moved to Pontiac almost three years ago with the hopes of starting a coffee house that could be a gathering place for friends and neighbors, and also serve the community with reduced-price coffee and food items, service projects, art, music, and classes. Our situation has changed numerous times in the past few years, with job changes for both myself and my husband, and a new baby! At this point, we are unable to open the coffee house we envisioned in our neighborhood, though we believe God still has plans for us down the road (just not in the timeline we thought it would all happen). However, God has a plan even now, and he orders our steps. We are here for a reason. We have LOVED being in Pontiac and getting to know new friends and neighbors, as well as connecting further with some really great organizations and friends who are here serving Pontiac.

Now, the super-exciting announcement... we are partnering with Micah 6 Community to help them open a coffee house and International drink shop, Micah SIPS, in their neighborhood in Pontiac! Our dear friends, Josh and Susanna Borgelt will be running the coffee shop, and we have been able to help them connect with suppliers and resources in the area to get them going! We will also be able to provide them with some help and training, and a TON of equipment that we are not currently using, a lot of which was donated to us (THANK YOU to all of our supporters). This includes an espresso machine, refrigerators, a water filtration system, dishes, mugs, and other supplies!

We have been working closely with Josh and Susanna for a while, and their vision is VERY close to what we envisioned for the Good Cup. We are so excited to be able to help them get their coffee house off the ground! Their shop will be located in the back of the Sprout Fresh Food Store on Huron, and it is getting close to ready to open. Most of the equipment will be ready to install this weekend! We are so excited for them, and the way they will be able to love on people through this ministry. I have found this to be so true! Also a good reason to work on art or music in a community setting. I think the caffeine helps too!

Yes, caffeine helps. But new research shows that the moderate noise level in cafés also perks up your creative cognition.

Heading to "6 On... Death" storytelling event tonight at 6:00. This is a Micah 6 Community event, and we will be serving coffee and hot cider for The GOOD Cup Pontiac there as well. :) Come on out to Pontiac and hear some great stories and drink great coffee!

We had a GREAT time at Coffee Night on Saturday! It was so great meeting and spending time with all of you, and sharing a passion for community and Pontiac!
