Reynold's Institute

Reynold's Institute The Institute was founded in 1955 and has a 60-acre campus. Its capacity was 34 juvenile offenders referred by the Louisiana Dept of Corrections. Frank P.

Permanently closed now and abandoned. My name is Kimberly (Cangelosi) King and I was a Supervisor at Reynold's Institute from 1980 to 1986. As I lost all my photos of Reynolds in Hurricane Katrina, anyone that will add some here, is greatly appreciated. I do believe the facility is long ago closed. Letellier II, Metairie, was Chairman of the Board and overseer of the institute. Reynolds was incorp

orated in 1970 as a Non-Profit Organization. Bobette Apple, Andrew Jackson, Brother Phillips, were all directors there. I have created this page as there is no website or information on Reynolds today. Reynolds was one of the most challenging and difficult jobs I have ever had and yet it taught me so much that when I joined the military in 1986. Anything we were asked to do, seemed extremely simple in comparison. I would love to hear from old friends and/or students that went there.

Sadly, I hate to report that in late February 2020, the abandoned buildings of Reynolds, burned to the ground. As we were able to go into each building with no problem, it would not surprise me if someone set this fire, or left something that caused it to burn. No photos yet of what is actually left behind.

Virtually every building at the former Reynolds Institute in Ponchatoula burned this weekend.
