Near record temperatures, low humidity values, and strong south-southwest winds will lead to increased fire weather concerns across portions of northeast Oklahoma Thursday. A Red Flag Warning and a Fire Weather Watch are in effect from 9 am to 10 pm Thursday. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged. Please avoid behaviors that may cause a spark!

Great picture from Saturday's controlled burn that required assistance from Ponca City, McCord, Kildare, Osage Cove, and Kaw City. Oklahoma State Forrestry was on scene with 2 planes and dozers.Bob is on the phone with McCord Fire Chief, David Rush.

Osage cove fire. Assisting Ponca city fire. McCord fire. Kildare fire. Kaw city fire. East of Ponca city . And ground and air crews from Oklahoma forestry. All worked hard to protect all structures on Rocky Ridge Fire. Saturday afternoon.

9:15 AM [Tuesday, March 17th, 2026] - We have expanded the previous Red Flag Warning to include additional portions of northwestern and south-central Oklahoma until 7 PM this evening.

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for our area due to strong winds, low humidity, and dry conditions. These conditions create an extreme risk for wildfires that can start and spread quickly.

Even a small spark can start a fast-moving wildfire in these conditions.

The Osage Nation Reservation is under a red flag warning today (Tuesday, February 24, 2026). Please do your part to keep our home safe!

What is a Red Flag Warning? Red Flag warnings are issued when fire danger is high. During Red Flag Warnings, outdoor burning is highly discouraged, and any activities that could start fires should be closely monitored.
