UPDATE: WE DID IT!!!! Between the many donation and pledges, we are able to pay his whole past due electric (which was over 900) and .... drum roll....SAVE THEIR CAR! When I called to tell him tonight he said no one had ever done anything like this for him before. I was quickly to remind him that when God and Ponca City come together.... BEAUTIFUL THINGS HAPPEN!!!! You are ALL ROCK STARS!

**SOS**
I’ve been working closely with a local gentleman who is battling terminal cancer. His condition has been verified (by me) as urgent by the OU Cancer Center in Oklahoma City. This is real, and it’s happening right now. Here they are facing the hardest time in their lives yet having to worry about things we take for granted.
This has all come on so suddenly. He has spent long nights in the hospital, and things progressed so quickly that he didn’t even have time to get disability in place—though he is working on that now.
Right now, his wife is carrying everything. She is the only source of income and also his primary caregiver. My heart aches seeing her so exhausted.
They have already had to let one vehicle go back, so they are now down to one car and it is the only transportation he has to get to his cancer treatment appointments in OKC. The Cancer Center said that he has missed his last two appointments because of finances. This feels just cruel.
Thanks to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Ponca City, OK AND A Path Forward Inc. , we’ve been able to keep the lights on this far... but we are not through this yet. Not even close.
Here’s where things stand:
*Two electric payments of $296 each are still needed to keep the power on.
*That remaining car is at risk, with $1,700 past due. Because we were able to help with the electric they were able to make a car payment. The loan company has shown some flexibility but he is at risk of repossession on May 3rd.
I’ve reached out everywhere I can. I’ve sat in my office overwhelmed, trying to find a way to make this work. And I keep coming back to this:
It’s going to take a community.
If you can give, please message me. I can connect you with ways to pay directly to utility company or help however you feel led. My PayPal is [email protected]
If you can’t give, please share this post.
This family needs a miracle. Maybe we can be it. ❤️
