JUSTICE FOR KAYLENE JO WILLIAMS

Kaylene Jo Williams was more than a headline. She was more than a homicide victim. She was a person who was loved, who mattered, and whose life was violently taken from her.

Those who knew Kaylene described her as “sunshine.” She brought light, warmth, and kindness into the lives of the people around her. That is the woman we want people to remember.

But we also cannot—and will not—remain silent about the violence that took her from her family.

According to the Payne County District Attorney’s Office, Kyle Wayne Rector, 43, has been charged with First Degree Murder in connection with Kaylene’s death. The District Attorney has stated that, after reviewing the evidence and circumstances of this case, he intends to seek the death penalty. He has also stated that he will speak with Kaylene’s family about their wishes before making that filing, as required under Marcy’s Law.

We also understand that there has been an admission of responsibility in connection with Kaylene’s death.

And while the criminal justice process must still take its course, there is one thing that should never be lost in that process:

KAYLENE DESERVES JUSTICE.

Her family deserves answers.

Her loved ones deserve accountability.

And Kaylene deserves to be remembered for the life she lived—not simply the horrific circumstances of how that life ended.

We are angry.

We are heartbroken.

And we are tired of seeing women lose their lives to violence while families are left to pick up the pieces.

Violence against women is not a private matter. Murder is not a family matter. And Kaylene’s death is not something that should simply become another case number and eventually another forgotten headline.

We stand with Kaylene’s family.

We stand with those who loved her.

And we stand for accountability and justice.

We will say her name.

Kaylene Jo Williams.

She was sunshine.

She was loved.

She mattered.

And she deserves justice.

From all of us at Missing and Murdered Indigenous People Central Oklahoma Chapter, we extend our deepest condolences to Kaylene’s family and everyone who is grieving her loss. Her life mattered, and we will stand with thr family to the very end anf far beyond.

What a super awesome, busy, enjoyable, and HOT weekend!

PTVS was thrilled to be able to attend the American Indian Exposition 1935 to support our Ponca Tribal Princess, Ariana Harlan and J.O.M. Princess, Kaydyn Kemble, and our Ponca Gourd Dance Society during the Expo parade held on Saturday morning in Anadarko, OK!

Glad to see our Vice Chairwoman, Rene Kemble, make the drive to show her full support!!

Members of the 150th Annual Ponca Powwow Committee showed up to represent in full force as well!!

Ponca Tribe Victim Services would like to extend our most heartfelt condolences and prayers to the family and friends of Kaylene Jo Williams.

This is Kaylene Jo Williams — she was murdered in Stillwater and police say her husband has admitted to stabbing her to death.

Kaylene Jo‘s workplace, the Golden Chick in Stillwater, is holding a car wash fundraiser on Saturday to help raise money for her burial, and the children she leaves behind. It will be in the Golden Chick parking lot August 15th from 3pm-7pm.
