💚 Meet Our District Partner: Lauren Aiello

Hi, I’m Lauren Aiello, Director of Special Services for Pompton Lakes Public Schools. I’ve spent my entire career in education, beginning as a special education teacher before moving into special education administration.

I’m passionate about creating strong programs and supports for students with disabilities and, just as importantly, building positive partnerships between families and schools.

I’m excited to be involved with SEPAC because I believe open communication and collaboration with families are essential to making our special education programs the best they can be. I’m looking forward to working with parents, sharing resources and information, and partnering together to strengthen opportunities for all of our students.
Outside of school, I’m a mom of three, so I understand education from both the school and parent side of the table.

I’m looking forward to a great year and to continuing to build a strong special education community here in Pompton Lakes! 💚

💚 Meet Our Parent Liaison: Stephanie

Hi, I’m Stephanie, a mom of two and the Parent Liaison for Pompton Lakes SEPAC. My journey into advocacy began with my son. From very early in his life, I found myself navigating specialists, Early Intervention, developmental delays, and eventually special education. Along the way, I learned how important it is to ask questions, educate yourself, build a strong support system, and surround your child with people who believe in their potential.

My son entered public school at three years old during the pandemic, when I couldn’t even walk him into his classroom on his first day. It required an incredible amount of trust, and our experience showed me how powerful a strong, collaborative relationship between families and schools can be. I was also fortunate to find other parents who understood the journey, and those relationships showed me the value of having a community where families can share experiences, ask questions, and learn from one another.

In January 2025, I reached out to learn more about SEPAC and began working with Lauren to increase family involvement in Pompton Lakes. Since then, we’ve created opportunities for families to come together, learn, access resources, and strengthen relationships throughout our school community.

As Parent Liaison, I work across all of our teams to coordinate our efforts, bring people and ideas together, and help keep SEPAC moving forward. I’m especially excited to see parents stepping into leadership roles this year and bringing their own experiences, talents, and perspectives to our work.

My hope is to continue growing SEPAC into a strong, welcoming, and collaborative organization where families have a voice and parents, educators, administrators, and our community work together to create meaningful opportunities for our children.

I’m so excited about the team we’re building and what comes next. 💚

💚 Meet Our Fundraising & Finance Team Lead: Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, a mom of three, with one child at Lenox and two younger children.

I’m passionate about making sure every child and family feels supported and valued. Professionally, I often work alongside a special needs planner to help families navigate the financial aspects of planning for their family, both now and in the future. Through that work, I’ve seen how important it is for families to have access to the right information, resources, and support.

My background also includes marketing, photography, event management, and fundraising. I’m excited to bring those skills to Pompton Lakes SEPAC and help support its growth and our community.

I’m looking forward to working alongside other parents and families as we continue building a strong, welcoming SEPAC for Pompton Lakes. 💚

💚 Meet Our Education & Advocacy Team Lead: Kenna

Hi, I’m Kenna Petruska, a mom of two, including one child with complex special needs. My daughter, Penelope, has taught me more about advocacy, inclusion, accessibility, and the importance of having the right supports in place than I ever expected to learn.

Over the past several years, I’ve become increasingly involved in navigating special education, IEPs, therapies, assistive technology, and the many systems that families of children with disabilities encounter. Through that experience, I’ve realized how important it is for parents to have a place where they can connect with one another, ask questions, share resources, and feel heard.

I wanted to be part of SEPAC because I believe we have an opportunity to build something meaningful from the ground up for Pompton Lakes families. I’d love to help create a welcoming and collaborative community where parents feel supported and empowered to advocate for their children and create positive change, while also building strong relationships between families, educators, administrators, and the district.

As our Education & Advocacy Team Lead, I’m especially passionate about inclusion, accessibility, communication, and helping families better understand the resources and supports available to their children. I want to help make sure every child has the opportunity to participate, belong, and reach their potential.

I’m excited to be part of the beginning of SEPAC and to see what we can build together. 💚

💚 Meet Our Inclusive Fair Team Lead: Ally

Hi! I’m Ally. My family has been part of the Pompton Lakes school district since 2020. I have an 8th grader at Lakeside, a son in the ERI program at Lincoln, and twin daughters at Lenox.

Special education and advocating for our kids has become something very close to my heart. My son has ADHD and an IEP, and ERI has been a huge success for him. Seeing firsthand how much a child can grow when they’re given the right support, environment, and people who truly understand their needs has made me even more passionate about advocating for our children.

One of my twins was born with a cleft lip and missing palate and currently has a 504 Plan. Through her journey, I’ve navigated speech and occupational therapy, feeding specialists, school supports, evaluations, and medical care. Along the way, I’ve learned how important it is to ask questions, speak up, learn the systems available to our kids, and recognize when something is truly working.

That’s a huge reason I wanted to get involved with SEPAC. I know how overwhelming it can feel when you’re trying to figure out what your child needs, what supports may be available, who to talk to, or even what questions you should be asking. I hope my experiences can help other families feel a little less alone, while I continue learning from their experiences too.

As our Inclusive Fair Team Lead, I’m especially excited to help create an event where ALL of our kids can participate, have fun, and feel like they belong. I also want SEPAC to be a place where parents can connect without feeling judged or intimidated, share resources and experiences, ask questions, and know their voices matter.

More than anything, I’m coming into this as a mom first. I don’t have all the answers, and every child’s journey is different, but I’m willing to listen, learn, share what I’ve learned, and advocate alongside other families.

I truly believe that when parents, educators, specialists, and our community work together, we can make a huge difference for our kids. 💚
