May 18th 1803 is the day we celebrate our culture, our freedom, our legacy, but most of all our flag.

Jean-Jacques Dessalines’s, leader of the Haitian revolution, drove out the French and ensured Haiti’s freedom from slavery. He took the French flag and cut the white from the middle. His goddaughter Catherine Flon, then sewed the red and blue thus creating the flag we now know.

Happy International Black Woman’s History Month!

This month we honor Marie Vital. Besides being an integral part in creating the foundation, we also acknowledge her passion for Christ. Proverbs 31:31 states “Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” The name Marie’s House Orphanage, is our way of showing her how much we admired her, cherished her presence, and appreciated her perseverance.
