HOA and Condo board members take note :

For HOAs, the law changed in 2024 requiring:
4 hours yearly continuing education for board members

8 hours if the HOA has 2,500+ parcels
Suspension if they don’t comply
That’s under the updated HOA statutes.

For condominiums, the education requirements are broader and stricter under Chapter 718 because of all the post-Surfside reforms.
Here’s the condo breakdown in plain English:
Condo Board Members

Newly elected or appointed condo directors must:
Complete a certification course within 90 days OR
Certify they’ve read and understand governing docs
AND…
They now also have:
Ongoing continuing education requirements yearly

Extra hours depending on condo size
Financial literacy and milestone inspection obligations in many associations

For larger condo associations:
Directors often need 8 hours annually
Some requirements increase based on unit count
And yes — failure to comply can affect eligibility to serve.

You’re actually making a strong point about LCAM education. A lot of board members have zero operational training, yet they oversee:
million-dollar budgets
reserves
contracts
legal exposure
structural safety
insurance crises
vendors
employee issues

A Property Management or Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation-style framework for at least one deeply trained board member isn’t a crazy idea at all.

The challenge is volunteer boards already struggle to get candidates. If Florida mandated 16 hours of LCAM-level training yearly for all directors, some communities would probably have nobody willing to serve 😅

But requiring:
one “education officer”
or one advanced-certified director
or stronger financial/structural governance training
…honestly makes a lot of sense given today’s condo environment in Florida.

Car theft in the US has been a booming business for years. It has been made easier for the thieves with the plethora of electronics in the vehicle. The DOJ was explaining how your vehicle can literally be "Gone in 60 Seconds". A device called the Autel, the tablet you see your car tech working on, can reprogram your entire car's system in seconds.
It will disable your keys, your GPS and your alarm system. The car will be removed, have the vin stripped and put in a shipping container where it will be on a ship to Africa, labeled as furniture (which does not get inspected).
My own advice is to put a separate tracking device that alerts you immediately when it moves so you can call the police. Chances for recovery are still slim but your tried.
Lastly, NEVER leave anything important in your car. Honda is the #1 stolen make. Then comes Camaro and Chevy. Be safe.
