Autism Sensitivity Training & Advocacy

Autism Sensitivity Training & Advocacy We train those who come in contact with people with Autism, we show you how to recognize patterns of behavior & how to best reach & communicate with them.

The CDC estimates that 1 in 68 children in America have Autism. A new government survey of parents suggests that up to 1 in 45 children, ages 3 through 17, have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), suggesting that the numbers are rapidly growing. The understanding of Autism by the general public remains quite limited and this can lead to encounters that range from uncomfortable or e

mbarrassing through to dangerous and life-threatening. The characteristics, mindset and behavior of an individual on the spectrum can pose unique challenges for interaction and engagement with law enforcement, health professionals and potential employers. Within this landscape, we are committed to do our part to inform and educate interested parties and provide guidance on how to communicate and interact with a person with Autism. We provide educational services and training for Police Officers, EMTs, medical offices, schools (teachers & students) and businesses, on Autism symptoms and characteristics & how to effectively communicate with those on the spectrum. This training provides excellent tools to interact with people with Autism, understand the diagnosis, symptoms and challenges, and most importantly helps you be successful in your communication with them. According to a report published by A.J. Drexel Autism Institute, young adults with Autism had lower employment rates and higher rates of complete social isolation than people with other disabilities. 66% of young people who did get employed after graduating high school, only 47% were able to retain their jobs. For this reason we advocate for teens & young adults with an Autism diagnosis in helping them find employment, by meeting with them and their family; gathering pertinent information in order to understand their needs and best placement. With that information we educate possible employers and encourage them to take an Autistic employee under their wing. http://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/autism/data.html

The cerebellum controls core muscles, balance, and coordination of body and thoughts. Strengthening the cerebellum helps with body spatial awareness which is the foundation for processing emotions appropriately. You must feel your body and connect with your body in space to process how you feel.

Exercises for balance: tight rope/slackline, rollerblades, skateboard, hopping from rock to rock in a stream.
Exercises for coordination: biking, swimming, hula hoop

The Brain Balance Program is uniquely designed to build the brain connections needed across different brain regions that may improve many skills, including visual skills.
