600 Million Dogs We're developing a safe and effective way to end the overpopulation of homeless dogs.

Founded in 2009 by legendary animal rights activist Alex Pacheco, 600 Million Dogs was created in response to an experience Alex had in Mexico. While walking down a crowded street in the country, he came across a pile of stray dogs who appeared to be deceased, but were actually alive and attempting to avoid the crowds. Greatly distressed by what he witnessed, Alex knew that this suffering was the

result of overpopulation. He then became determined to develop a cookie that would safely and effectively spay and neuter dogs in only one dose. Since then, the organization has continuously researched how we can make this cookie a reality in order to help the hundreds of millions of stray dogs all over the world. Whoever dumped saw a defect. I see the best dog in the neighborhood.

The street doesn't forgive different. The slow ones, the wobbly ones, usually don't make it. Ali did. Most don't. And nobody out there is counting them.

That's the whole reason we do this work — so fewer dogs are ever born onto a street that punishes them for being exactly who they are.

He watched the bus pull away at 8:15 this morning.

Six hours of quiet grief. A dachshund in mourning.

She was gone forever.

Then the bus came back.

Full body wag. A reunion worthy of someone returning from war, not second grade.

He does this every single day. It has never once gotten old for him, because he genuinely did not think she was coming back.

Every animal who gets to fall apart has a erson to fall apart over. Most never get one.

That's the part we're working on — the Cookie is in development to bring down the number of animals born with nobody to wait for.

The shelter papers say "Lab mix."

They always do and we nod, because being part Lab is the most flattering thing a dog can be.

What you got: the shedding, the appetite, and the water thing which includes lots and lots of MUD.

So yes. Lab mix. Absolutely. All of the Lab, none of the paperwork, and a dog who will outlive the whole argument.

He's getting the hose. He knows. He does not care.
