Ati Viviam Villafaña Izquierdo, José Luis Fernández-Checa Roy, and Paula Caballero are part of the international jury evaluating this year’s profiles for the selection of The 100 Latinos Most Committed to Climate Action 2026.

Ati works to strengthen Indigenous participation and defend territory through ancestral knowledge. José Luis has dedicated much of his career to environmental journalism, helping bring major ecological challenges closer to the public. Paula is a leading voice in sustainable development and conservation, recognized for her contribution to the concept of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Three different paths, bringing complementary perspectives to how climate leadership is recognized.

💚 During Climate Week NYC 2026 and Hispanic Heritage Month, our Town Hall Series came to New York, where community members, leaders, and experts came together to talk about air quality, respiratory health, flooding, resilience, and how climate solutions are also being shaped by neighborhoods, lived experience, and the people facing these challenges every day.

This reel captures a few moments from the gathering, but the full conversation went much deeper: questions, personal experiences, and perspectives on how our communities can prepare, care for one another, and have a real voice in the decisions shaping their future.

In Houston, we talked about the Gulf’s future through the realities people are already living every day. 💚

At the Houston stop of our Town Hall Series, community members, leaders, and experts came together to talk about how offshore expansion connects to issues that reach far beyond the ocean, including air quality, health, energy, the economy, and everyday life in our communities.

The conversation also made room for solutions, from the growth of renewable energy in Texas to the importance of making those opportunities accessible to everyone.

And one thing came through clearly: community participation matters. Getting informed, asking questions, staying engaged in our neighborhoods, and keeping these conversations going are all part of shaping what comes next.

With Houston, we close this chapter of our Town Hall Series, but the conversation continues.

A special thank you to Univision Houston and Raíces Collaborative for being part of this journey and helping bring the conversation closer to the community.
