🌴 Be Where Your Feet Are: Self-Care, Florida Style 🌴

Where is your happy place in Florida? Maybe it's a quiet beach at sunrise, a peaceful lake, a shady hammock under an old oak tree, or your favorite spot in nature. Wherever it is, make time to go there and simply be present.

One of the most powerful mindfulness practices is learning to focus on the moment we're in instead of replaying yesterday's worries or tomorrow's concerns. A few minutes spent breathing deeply, praying, meditating, or simply noticing the beauty around you can help restore a sense of calm.

When rumination starts stealing your peace, hit the pause button. Give yourself permission to recharge. Taking care of yourself is not selfish. It helps you show up as a healthier, stronger version of yourself and better support the people you love.

Show us your Florida happy place! Share a photo in the comments and inspire others to find a moment of peace today.

Join a Learn 2 Cope in-person (Margate area) or Zoom meeting to connect with others who understand, and discover practical ways to care for yourself while supporting a loved one with a substance use disorder.

Learn 2 Cope Florida had a great time attending July's Coffee & Conversation at Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center yesterday!

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with local organizations serving our community. JC's Recovery Center and Florida Helps Addiction Treatment Center shared the services they provide, and we enjoyed meeting Bryce Hackmeyer from CAN Community Health, which offers free HIV and STD testing, sliding-scale medications, and mental health services.

We also connected with Sean MacPhee from United Way Broward's MISSION UNITED Veterans Program, who shared information about a monthly Broward veterans event featuring housing and other community resources.

Glad to chat with Adrian Bowling of Mastermind Care on recovery and the importance of healthy boundaries, something we know is so important for families, too.

We're always grateful for opportunities to build connections, strengthen community partnerships, and learn about resources that can benefit the families we support. 💙

A special thank you to Alicia Borders with the Florida Department Of Juvenile Justice for inviting us to speak with these incredible young women about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse and the importance of making informed choices for a healthy future.
