We are a foundation dedicated to creating, a more compassionate, tolerant and respectful school climate through the implementation of the Passport to Peace Program. Through this, children and adults can become ambassadors of hope, undertaking real community service projects, which in turn, will generate changes in themselves, their families, schools and communities. We are motivated by a mission t

o provide the Passport to Peace Program as a comprehensive program that will change the climate and school culture of harassment and intimidation. The foundation seeks to find funding sources, resources and support institutions, governments, international organizations and companies.

Passport to Peace has a kindness Project for October 2019. Its an International Reading Project. If you are interested in participating send me your email address to [email protected] and I will send you the resources and lesson plans.

Be Kind Project

Rationale: The Passport to Peace Foundation, presents the international project, Be Kind. The project will involve different elementary schools around the world. Its goals are to promote and enlighten a social exchange between the participants. They will share their respective knowledge, skills, attitudes and values taught in their schools or centers of study, so that all may mutually benefit.

Participation in an act of service to the community is one of the most effective learning methods for children. It enables them to find meaning in what they study when they apply their knowledge and skills.

A successful education forms socially responsible citizens who work to seek social justice.

Children are not citizens of the future, they are citizens of today because they are able to trigger change in their environment.

Children Sharing Values with Other Children– The Passport to Peace Program, aims to create bonds of brotherhood among the participating schools.

In October, all of the schools participating in the project will read the same book about Kindness. They will write reflections to be displayed in the shape of an umbrella, in each school. We will share our reflections via email and Skype and display them throughout each other’s schools.

Purpose: To provide children, parents, teachers, and community members of the participating schools the opportunity to be able to reflect about kindness and come up with an action plan by class on how they can show kindness in their class, school and communities. The schools will also have the opportunity to reflect on the importance of reading, and to recommend or purchase their favorite books and/ or authors to kids in need. This shared literacy experience will promote global tolerance and intercultural understanding through an exploration of kindness and empathy.

Stages of the Project

First Stage September 2019 – Investigation and promotion: Invite schools to promote the importance of reading and the value of Kindness and Empathy.

Second Stage Sept. 30th-Oct.11th – The introduction of the project: Be Kind. Steps of the program will be adapted for each school. Students will participate in reading and writing activities.

Third Stage 30th-Oct.11th –(optional) Schools participating in the project will start collecting books for kids in need (chosen by each school). These schools will also be participating in the reading project. This way your students will get to know them.

Fourth Stage Oct. 14th-18th – Students from around the world will write reflections to be displayed on an umbrella cut out. We will share our reflections via email and Skype and display them throughout each other’s schools.

Fifth Stage Oct. 14th-18th - Students will post their reflections on a large bulletin board in a central location in the school. At the same time, we invite schools to create a banner I choose to Be the “I” in Kind, take pictures and share them with other schools.
